About the role

We are partnering with a leading utility contractor to recruit an Overhead Line Network Designer for their expanding Design Department, working on electrical infrastructure projects across Ireland and the UK.

This is a permanent role combining office and site-based work, suited to professionals from a range of backgrounds — grid construction (overhead or underground), land surveying, project management, or civil, structural or mechanical engineering — who bring solid experience in their discipline. Office duties can be based across three regional offices, and as the business operates nationwide, regular travel in a company vehicle is required, with occasional overnight stays.

Requirements

Relevant industry experience in grid construction, land surveying, project management, or civil/structural/mechanical engineering (hands-on experience carries significant weighting)
Familiarity with ESB Networks design and construction standards — essential
Knowledge of the overhead line industry — a distinct advantage
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to represent the business professionally to landowners and the public
Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Excel; strong IT skills
Self-motivated, flexible, and comfortable working both independently and within a multidisciplinary team
Full driving licence (regular nationwide travel required)
